TONY CHENNAULT:

WRITER & DIRECTOR

BIO

Tony Chennault is an award-winning filmmaker from Philadelphia whose work is grounded inauthentic, character-driven storytelling shaped by the grit, heart, and truth of his hometown. His films center on people at pivotal crossroads—where personal choices collide with community, legacy, and survival.

In 2014, Tony won Best Director at the Ekiah Film Festival, marking the beginning of a career focused on telling grounded, emotionally honest stories. His screenplay Dollar Party won the Act Up! Screenwriters Competition at the Hip Hop Film Festival in 2018. He is the creator of Oldhead: The Series, which has amassed over 3 million views on YouTube and later premiered on Fox Soul and Tubi. Tony made his feature directorial debut with Oldhead: The Movie, now streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi TV. His short film One Last Night is currently on the festival circuit.

Tony is also the director of the docu-series NBA Court of Leaders, which spotlights the journeys of the nation’s top boys and girls high school basketball players and is set to premiere on NBA TV.

Beyond filmmaking, Tony is a co-instructor in the Film & Media MCPP Program at WLCAC, where he mentors young adults ages 18–24 from underserved communities. Through hands-on training and real-world mentorship, he helps students develop as directors, cinematographers, and producers while also teaching the business of filmmaking—crowdfunding, budgeting, and producing their own work. His mission is to ensure the next generation doesn’t just learn how to make films, but how to build sustainable careers and bring their stories to life.
